President Goodluck Jonathan: Nigerians Are Fools

The alleged donations for President Jonathan’s PDP nomination form, has at its core the same deceit and manipulation that is resident in the heart of Nigerian politicians. It is a face-lift strategy that has been adopted by Nigerian politicians for long periods to engineer the emotions of the uneducated and the “blind to such tricks”. The claims by President Jonathan to yield the call of yearning Nigerians, the alleged loan acquisition by Buhari to obtain the 27.2 million Naira APC form, and the claim by many others like Godswill Apkabio, the executive governor of Akwa Ibom, are all attempts to create self images that resonate with the Nigerian people. It worked in the past.

The election of the President into office was aided by the “poor beginnings” he adopted in the 2011 presidential race, and we all remember his exact words: “I was born without shoes”. This recent adoption of borrowing and obtaining of loans for presidential forms is a tactful strategy employed to ward off questions from Nigerians regarding where they were able to obtain enough money to buy the forms; but then, we all know where and how. A look at the list of donators will reveal many faceless organizations and beneficiaries of the Jonathan’s administration; the beloved transformation agenda of Nigeria (TAN) being a case in point with a donation of 22.3million naira. A deep probe of TAN will reveal, to the surprise of every Nigerian, that TAN is one of the many indirectly controlled campaign organizations of President Jonathan. The loans and donations to these aspirants are all part of the Nigerian loot and largesse. They are gains from their last business cycle (political term) and investment in the next (political term). Do not be deceived, the Nigerian political cycle is simple:

 He is elected into position
He loots enough to invest (rig) in the next election
He’s elected again

Need we reiterate that the President and other presidential contestants do not really need donations or loans to contest elections – we know about their houses in different countries, their lifestyles and the neglect of their basic responsibilities only to become looting experts. We also know they have the elections covered. What they are only trying to do is present a good face to Nigerians and that’s the lie they’ve told us. A famous quote reads:

“You can lie to everyone sometimes, you can lie to some people all the time but you can never lie to everyone all the time.”

In response to the donations for the Presidential Nomination forms, President Jonathan said through his Special Adviser on media and publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati – “President Jonathan is greatly encouraged by the overwhelming outpouring of goodwill and support, as well as the confidence of the generality of Nigerians in his ability to continue to transform the country for the good of all of its people.”
